Arnaldo Machado has a degree in Organization and Business Management from the University of the Azores and a post-graduate degree from the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal.
He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Associação Nonagon – São Miguel Science and Technology Park.
He is a member of the Fiscal Council of the Portuguese Space Agency.
Member of the Regional Innovation Council.
He served as President of the Executive Board of the Employment Financial Management Office (1987-1988), General Accountant of the Azores Regional Section of the Court of Auditors (1989-1991), Regional Director of Commerce (1991-1992), Regional Director of the Trade, Industry and Energy (1993-1996), Director of the Office of Planning and Incentive Management (1996-2004), Regional Director of Support for Economic Cohesion (2004-2008), Regional Director of Support for Investment and Competitiveness (2008 -2012), Chairman of the Board of Directors of SDEA (2013-2018).
He was also a professor at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of the Azores (1984-2009), where he taught Econometrics and Economic Policy, Guest Assistant at the University of Madeira (1999-2000), where he taught Economic and Monetary Policy, Non-Executive Director of APIA – Azores Investment Promotion Agency, President of the Regional Incentives Council, Member of the Regional Council for Public Works, RAA Representative on the COMPETE Monitoring Committee, Chairman of the General Meeting of Cimentaçor, SA, Chairman of the General Meeting of Associação Nonagon and Chairman of the General Meeting of Sociedade Ilhas de Valor, SA.
